AHDB Beef and Lamb; formerly known as EBLEX, is the organisation for beef and lamb tax payers (levy payers) in England. Aiming to prioritise and enhance profitability and sustainability in the dairy sector, it supports optimisation of supply chains, and adding value to the industry. Investment in genetic improvement of cattle and sheep industry is paramount as the landscape of genetic evaluation is changing and incorporation of genomic information into breeding systems is on the rise. AbacusBio worked with AHDB Beef and Lamb to undergo a review of the genetic improvement of the beef cattle and sheep in the UK with special reference to the potential for genomics.
