Case Study: Saudi Arabia Livestock Farming

People involved in this project
Saudi Arabia Livestock Farming

Saudi Arabia is the heart of the Arab and Islamic worlds, a geographical hub connecting three continents. Farmers in the middle east face the challenge of feeding a growing population, scarce freshwater sources, and constraints in growing forages and feed. The local sheep and goats are well adapted to living in very harsh conditions having been farmed traditionally for centuries.

AbacusBio assessed the landscape of the red meat industry in Saudi Arabia, determining whether elements of modernisation might be able to complement the strong traditions of raising sheep and goats in the region.
